What are the benefits of joining Alpha Phi Omega?
We are a professional co-ed service fraternity so it looks good on your resume. Also you get to meet lots of new people and get involved on campus. Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and Michelle Obama were involved in APO.          
 
Is APO a social fraternity?
No we are not. However, we do have lots of fun activities for our brothers to bond with one another. Our fellowship and service projects unite everyone while still getting a chance to meet new people. We are a fraternity of men and women who accepts all who wish to join. 
 
What do you do in APO?
As a member of APO you participate in many service projects both on campus and off. Fellowship which means getting to know and spend time out with other members. Lastly, you get a lot of Leadership seminars, experience and tools. APO is run by its members so everything is created by and for the members which makes it engaging. APO is also a great way to make connects both with other colleges and their chapters, on campus and for your future career.  
 
Do I have to go through a "rush" process to join APO?
Yes. Our rush week is open to anyone. It's usually only three days long and includes different types of events such as game nights, mocktails, sliming, and so much more. We try to have at least one fellowship and one service project so you can get an idea of what APO is really like.
 
        Does APO Haze?
         No. We do not tolerate any type of hazing. This type of behavior is strictly against Alpha Phi Omega's policy.
 
        How much is joining going to cost me?
          Dues vary depending on the semester. We try to keep them as low as possible. They are usually around $60-$80. However, when you are pledging dues are more expensive because we have to pay our National office. 
 
        What are the members of APO like?
        We are a very diverse group of individuals that accept everyone who wishes to join. We have athletes, honor students, dance majors, and student workers in APO.
 
        Do you wear letters?
          APO is a Greek organization that does wear letters, however, you are not allowed to wear letters until you are a member. We take pride in our letters and they are supposed to be a symbol of our principals as an organization.
 
What does it mean to be a pledge of APO?
The pledge process lasts from 6 to 8 weeks. Every week you will attend pledge meetings in order to fully understand the history behind APO. Pledges must complete 10 hours of service, 5 hours of fellowship, and 2.5 hours of leadership. Each pledge class is required to plan a service project and fellowship which everyone should participate in. At the end of the pledge process, you will get initiated and officially become a brother.
 
*In order to help you along the way each pledge will be assigned a Big. This person is there to answer any questions and act as a mentor. We want to see everyone succeed!
 
       When are pledge meetings?
          Every Wednesday at 10pm
 
       When are chapter meetings?
       Every Tuesday at 10pm, when you're a pledge you do not have to attend the meetings regularly. As a member, you will have to attend chapter meetings but we do work with you, so if you have to miss a meeting its no problem, just email 24hrs in advance. 
 
       Do we have to take tests?
          During the pledge process, you will attend pledge meetings where you learn about APO, you will then have quizzes on the information. Don't stress the tests are easy and the material is covered thoroughly. We work closely with all pledges to make sure they feel comfortable and able to complete the pledge process.
 
What are the membership requirements for APO?
To be an active member you must complete the following each semester
  • 20 hours of service
  • 10 hours of fellowship (social bonding)
  • 5 hours of leadership
Also, members must pay dues.
Don't worry if these requirements seem overwhelming. We are will find a way for you get everything done. However, if you have a hectic semester becoming associate is an option.
 
        What are the different membership statuses? 
         Active Membership $60-$80
             - 20 hours of service
             -10 hours of fellowship
             - 5 hours of leadership
        Associate Membership $30-40
             - 10 hours of service
             - 5 hours of fellowship 
             - 2.5 hours of leadership
        Pledge $100 
             - 10 hours of service
             - 5 hours of fellowship
             - 2.5 hours of leadership (leads course mandatory)
        Inactive- previously was a member but no longer is a paid dues member. They are still welcome to events!        
        Alumni- graduate of Stockton and was a member of APO! Alumni often come back to visit and meet the new members of their families and lines. 
          
 
I was in APO on another campus, how do I join Stockton's Chapter?
If you were previously an APO member we honor that, you do not have to do the rush process over. You simply show up to an info night to get information, get assigned a big (if you would like) and become initiated into AHO chapter. 
 
 
I already belong to a fraternity or sorority can I still join?
Absolutely! We encourage everyone to join. Since APO is not part of the social Greek Life on our campus it won't interfere with other organizations you may be involved with.
